Setting them both to Automatic and starting them was all it took to make it visible to the W8.1 machine (after a few minutes, it takes time for these names to appear on the network once the services are stated).Ĭheck again that all your machines have those two services running. It saw all bar one on the other (w10) machines, though it could connect to the 'invisible' PC by typing it's name (in the form \\ name) in File Explorer.Ĭhecking on the 'invisible' PC I found that its Function Discovery Resource Publication and Function Discovery Provider Host services were not running and were still set to manual. ![]() I've just run up half a dozen and checked what the W8.1 machine could see. Yet, Windows 8 computer can't see the Windows 10 computer.I can have up to a dozen machines on my network with a variety of OS from XP up to W10 (I have nowhere near that many PCs, most of those are virtual machines). ![]()
